Heavy Moorefield Influence in Kildare 35 man NFL Squad

Kildare manager Cian O’Neill has named a 35 man panel for the upcoming National League campaign.

The squad includes 8 youngsters who have not played in League or Championship and 7 players from O’Neill’s own Moorefield club, who only had one regular on the team last year, Kevin Murnaghan.

Major casualties of the cull this week include Padraig Fogarty, the St. Laurence’s forward who was joint second top scorer for the team last year, and another Larries man, Shane Connolly, the former no.1 goalkeeper, while Ray Cahill, the Club Footballer of the Year from Sarsfields and Morgan O’Flaherty, who was Kildare’s outstanding performer in the O’Byrne Cup match against Offaly last week end, have also failed to make the panel as has the long-serving Mikey Conway.

Most exciting of the younger additions are Adam Tyrell, the free-scoring Moorefield wing forward, Neil Flynn, who scored 11 points in last year’s Leinster under-21 final and former professional soccer player Kevin Feely from Athy.
